Dark Horse is SOC 2 Compliant

A common question we receive from clients and prospective clients is, “how are you keeping my sensitive information secure?” It’s a legitimate question. It’s also one that doesn’t often have a short, clear and comprehensive answer. While we know that we are doing everything possible to protect our clients’ personal and sensitive data, we wanted to be able to demonstrate this publicly in a way that didn’t feel arbitrary and that met the highest standards of our profession.

So, in 2022 we decided we would endeavor to become SOC 2 compliant, as this is the ultimate answer to the aforementioned question.

And, we’re happy to announce that we indeed passed our SOC 2 audit earlier this year. The audit report can be requested by clicking here.

While no organization is immune to cyber-attacks, we recognize the importance of being as prepared as possible for any such attempt to compromise our clients’ data. These attempts happen daily to CPA firms, and any other company that deals with sensitive information and/or large dollar amounts for that matter. It’s almost like having a brick-and-mortar location where thieves were constantly hurling both bricks and mortar at our window in an attempt to shatter the glass to be able to break into our office and steal sensitive documents. To not realize that the digital version of this is happening constantly would be both naïve and negligent.

If you had people trying to break the glass into your office, you’d probably hire security, fortify your windows, train your staff as to how to enter and exit the building, maybe even rent an office in a skyscraper, etc. You couldn’t go too far to secure the office. Similarly, there are no lengths we won’t go to in order to do everything we can to keep our clients’ data safe and secure.

We’d like to thank you for the trust you’ve put in us to support you in your financial success and to keep you protected along the way. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact privacy@darkhorse.cpa.
